We are delighted to announce that Simon Moody has been appointed manager of Whitley Bay Reserves. Simon and his family have a long association with the Club and he was First Team Coach during the shortened 2020/21 season. He previously worked with Tony Fawcett at Ryton & Crawcrook Albion and is the son of Tommy Moody, who was a well known figure throughout local football, and for many years a great servant to Whitley Bay Football Club.
Speaking shortly after his appointment Simon told us: ”I’m obviously delighted to have been given this opportunity. There’s a massive rebuilding job to be done and I’ll be working very closely with Tony and Derek. What I’m aiming to do is attract young players and hopefully provide a strong route for young talent in the area into senior football in the first team.“ We would like to congratulate Simon on his appointment and wish him every success in this new role.
Simon’s appointment follows the decision by Gavin Hattrick earlier this month to stand down after many years service to Whitley Bay FC. Initially a first team player, Gavin went on to coach and then become manager of the Reserves side, leading them to success in the Northern Alliance Premier Division and last season’s Challenge Cup. Whitley Bay FC would like to thank Gavin for his tremendous commitment to the club over many years.
