Adam Shanks

The Club has announced that Adam Shanks has been released.

The popular striker has been a great servant to the club over the years and stands in tenth place on the club's all time goalscorers list with 83 goals from 133 appearances, one of his most most memorable being the stunning overhead volley at Garforth in the FA Cup two years ago.

However, this season Adam has made just six appearances, and was in the starting eleven only once.

Nick Gray told us "I know a lot of supporters have fond memories of him. He’s been great for the club over the years but we do need to make tough decisions which aren’t always popular. I’m here to try and win games of football and that was a football decision to let him go. We’ve got to keep on moving and unfortunately Adam’s time here has come to an end. He’s a good lad and I wish him all the best wherever he goes next."

Everyone at Whitley Bay FC would like to thank Adam for his services to the Club and we join Nick in wishing him all the very best of luck for the future.
