It was with great sadness that we learned that Mike Robinson, former Club Chairman, Director and benefactor of Whitley Bay Football Club passed away yesterday after a long illness.
Better known to many as 'Rob', he devoted a great amount of time and energy to the club over many years, and it was during his period on the Board that Whitley Bay first won the FA Vase, when the Final was played at Villa Park in 2002.
Mike was first introduced to the Club in the 1990's by much missed former Secretary Derek Breakwell, when the two of them met playing 5's and 3's dominoes at the Monkseaton Arms.
We send our heartfelt sympathy to his wife Jenn, who is well known not only to Whitley Bay fans but also to visiting club officials for whom she provides half time hospitality.
