Saturday was a very special day for the family of Whitley Bay Supporters Club chairman James Wright. His family are from Yorkshire, as can be easily detected by his accent! In fact the Wright family were at one time the owners of Worsbrough Bridge Athletic FC and James' grandfather was the club's press officer.
Saturday marked the centenary of the Club who are members of the Northern Counties East League Division One and are based close to Barnsley. In view of his family connections, James was invited to attend the unveiling of a centenary plaque at the ground and he travelled to Worsbrough Bridge for the celebrations with his wife Kelly, who runs the Whitley Bay FC Facebook page and her father Brian Webber, Supporters Club Membership Secretary.
On a great day for the Wright family, as well as meeting the current staff at the club, James also met Barnsley's former Premier League manager Danny Wilson.
James is photographed alongside the plaque with Kelly.
