We are greatly saddened to learn that our long serving Club Treasurer Jennifer Breakwell has passed away unexpectedly but very peacefully at home. Jennifer was a hugely popular and much loved figure within the Club and gave over 30 years dedicated service as Treasurer and Director.
Alongside her husband Derek, who served as Club Secretary until his death in January, she earned great respect and affection throughout the Northern League and in May this year she was presented with the Arthur Clark Memorial Trophy, a joint award shared with her late husband for outstanding voluntary work for Club and League. The Presentation at the Northern League Annual Dinner earned her a well deserved and emotional standing ovation.
Jennifer will be greatly missed by everyone at Whitley Bay Football Club and the wider football community. We extend our love and sincere heartfelt sympathy to her family including grand daughter Emma who over the past year has contributed increasingly to match day administration.
There can be little doubt that the Breakwell name will have a lasting place in the history of Whitley Bay Football Club.
We would ask everyone to respect the privacy of the family at this very sad time.
