Severe weather takes its toll

Bad weather has resulted in the postponement of two Whitley Bay games in the space of four days.  Tuesday night's fixture at Birtley Town was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and now tonight's (Friday) game at Heaton Stannington has fallen victim to the wintry conditions with the Grounsell Park pitch frozen and snow covered.

Thankfully for all concerned, the League allowed clubs to make the decision to postpone this weekend's games when there was obviously no chance of  the pitch being playable. Under normal circumstances a referee's inspection would be required before a game could be called off, which would inevitably delay making a final decision.

New dates for the two games will be announced in due course and will appear on the website fixtures page. Whitley do not currently have any midweek fixtures scheduled for the new year so there should be plenty of time to fit them in.

Whitley's next game is due to be played at West Allotment Celtic on Saturday 9th December.
