It’s derby day tomorrow when Whitley take on local rivals North Shields at Hillheads. Both sides have made a good start to the season and are currently unbeaten in the league. Both had impressive midweek results, Shields winning 2-1 at Marske while Whitley fought back to earn an excellent point at champions Shildon.
Last season Whitley completed the double over the Robins; a 2-1 success at the Daren Persson Stadium being followed by a 2-0 victory at Hillheads on Easter Monday.
There is a strong Whitley connection in the Shields squad, with Craig McFarlane their most recent acquisition from Hillheads but his start to the season has been hampered by injury.
It is a Bank Holiday weekend and with a large crowd expected, fans are urged to arrive in good time to avoid queues at the turnstiles.
