Ivor Berry

It was with great sadness that we learned recently that one of Whitley Bay's loyal volunteers, Ivor Berry, had passed away. The news came as a complete shock as just two days earlier, Ivor had been carrying out his regular work as manager of the Club's Programme Shop, welcoming visitors from near and far to what is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive programme shops in the region.

Ivor had been carrying out a major refurbishment of the shop, including cataloguing programmes to make it easier for customers to browse.

A quiet and unassuming man, Ivor opened the shop on match days, before games and at half time and always had a flow of customers whose purchases provided a valuable source of income for the club.

During games, Ivor usually watched from a seat in the main stand but on occasions he could also be seen retrieving balls kicked out of the ground into the car park.

He will be a sad loss and Whitley Bay Football Club would like to extend our condolences to his family and friends.
