“It was a very good result”

Bay assistant manager Barry Rizza was delighted with the team’s performance in the League Cup victory at Horden. “It was a very good result. It was an important game. We wanted to get lads out there who’ve been showing up week in week out and not getting minutes in. It was a good opportunity to get lads onto the pitch and some minutes into their legs and they performed well."

Young strikers Gildo Da Silva and Nathan Nkunku were impressive and caused problems for the Horden defence as Barry said. “They were aggressive and very good. They did what we asked; they were holding it up, they were being positive. They were getting at people. There were some good goals amongst them tonight.”

Josh Stewart really caught the eye with another excellent performance and came close to scoring a goal of the season contender. Barry commented “technically he’s probably one of the best players in the league. On the ball he’s so laid back and then he does things like that, he’s amazing!”

A few senior players were rested or played only a small part of the game with so many crucial league games coming up and midweek fixtures throughout the next month. “We’ve got one eye on the weekend (against Boro Rangers). It’s three games in seven days and for anyone that’s tough because obviously with ten or eleven league games left, every game’s important.”
