Hat trick of awards for Whitley Bay FC

It was a night to remember for Whitley Bay at the Northumberland FA 2023 Grassroots Awards held in Newcastle on Friday.

The first presentation was the highly prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award which went to long serving Club Secretary Derek Breakwell who sadly passed away in January. The citation read "Derek is fondly remembered and much missed by our grassroots community." The award was presented to his wife Jennifer.

The next award, the Grassroots New Volunteer of the Year, was won by the club's new young reporter Harry Salkeld, whose detailed match reports have received widespread acclaim.

To complete a special evening for the whole Whitley Bay FC family, the "Positive Football Environment Award" for ensuring football is fun, safe and enjoyable for all players, went to Whitley Bay FC Juniors, whose Secretary Yvonne Baxter received the award.

Congratulations to all our winners for their voluntary work and service to the community.
