The Club management issued the following statement in the matchday programme for last night's Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup tie and we are publishing it here for the benefit of the wider Whitley Bay FC audience.
A Commitment to our loyal Whitley Bay supporters to bounce back
"We would like to extend a heartfelt apology to each and every fan who made the journey to support us at Newcastle Blue Star.
We know how much effort it takes to follow the team on the road, and we are truly sorry that the performance did not match your dedication.
The disappointment you felt is shared by every player and member of staff, and we are determined to make amends.
Our display fell short of the standards we set for ourselves and the expectations you rightly have. It wasn’t the result or the performance we wanted to give you.
However, the team is fully committed to putting things right when we return to Hillheads for tonight’s cup match against Prudhoe.
We see this as the perfect opportunity to prove our resilience and show the fighting spirit that defines Whitley Bay.
One positive note from the game was the return of Regan Paterson. His solid 80 minutes and well-deserved goal were a reminder of his quality and determination.
Seeing him back in action was a bright spot, and we are excited about what he will bring as he continues to regain match sharpness.
We’re also thrilled to welcome back Mackenzie Sharpe and Cal Larmouth, who will both be available after serving their suspensions.
Their return will undoubtedly boost our attacking options and give us the firepower we need to make an impact in the cup.
Both players are eager to contribute and make up for lost time, and their presence will add energy and dynamism to the squad.
As always, we look forward to seeing you in numbers at Hillheads.
Your unwavering support means the world to the team, and your passion drives us to be better every game.
Sincerely,
Whitley Bay FC Players and Staff
Howay the Bay!
