The Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup returns next month after a six year gap and Whitley Bay have been drawn at home to Second Division side Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors in the First Round with the game to be played on Tuesday 3rd December.
The winners of that tie will be away to Boldon CA in the Second Round, with the South Tyneside club having received a bye in the First Round.
The League Cup was cancelled during the Covid pandemic and has not taken place since due to fixture congestion caused by bad autumn weather. With virtually no postponements so far this season, the competition, along with the Ernest Armstrong Cup for Second Division sides will go ahead as in the past, with all games to be decided on the night with no extra time and with penalties if there is no winner after 90 minutes.
The last winners, in 2019 were West Auckland who beat Newcastle Benfield on penalties.
Whitley last appeared in the Final in 2014 when they were beaten 2-1 by Marske United after extra time with the game played at St James' Park, Newcastle.
It is a competition that Whitley have won twice, the last occasion way back in 1971 when they beat North Shields in the Final at Croft Park, Blyth.
